This smells like woods with oak moss to me, and a dash of herbs, a lovely fragrance. It's not a dark wood, more medium brightness. It may have an addictive quality: smelling it up close is providing rewarding inhales.
From a Vintage sample? graciously supplied by Bavard.
Whoa! Brutal start like a typical 80's monster. Lavender citrus with an 80's dose of Leathery Labdanum dryness, Galbanum and an excellent plonk of Oakmoss. Good quality Oakmoss allows for a long drydown. Detect the outline of this 12 hours later. Some pick up a woodiness and I pick up a dry tobacco.
Could'nt help thinking, "This relates to something I've worn lately".
Dusita Le Sillage Blanc. 21 Club is more linear and as expected Mossy longlived. The Dusita has a cloud of Neroli, Orange Blossom and Ambrette that makes it prettier.
If you can find it, 21 Club is a winner, particularily with it's Oakmoss lusciousness.

I came across this fragrance when I purchased a haul of vintage minis. Out of the 52 vintage fragrances, this was one of the most remarkable. It had all the wonderful elements combined into one scent. It smelled like vintage Boss No. 1 off the top, with honey and florals, but the heart clearly was strewn with solid wood. The lush mossy drydown had a trace of civet mixed in, to make this one of the most potent, sexy fragrances of its time. It is almost a dead ringer for the vintage Guess Men, with its slightly powdery musky dry down. Old school goodness!
I bought a bottle of this years ago at the 21 Club and really liked it--very similar to Bois du Portugal. I used up the bottle ages ago but was pleased to find a stash at Marshall's a few years ago and bought them all--have been giving them out as gifts ever since and now I am down to two bottles myself. It definitely has the powerful old school vibe that is 21--it is like standing at the panelled bar on the ground floor with a good scotch in front of you and gorgous food being carried by on trays. Good stuff.
Woody and strong...But great! It's very hard to find...Not expensive...Just hard to find. But a woody cologne of great quality, warmth, and staying power. Worth a try if you can find it.
