Acqua di Portofino (2002)

A typical italian dandy-mediterranean discreetly fresh cologney-hesperidic fragrance a la 4711, Eau de Cologne Imperial or classic twists on the theme. Acqua di Portofino is a quite decent yet "traditional" (with its easily runned formula) take on a central accord mastered by neroli, light spices, aromatic herbs, hesperides, secret marine patterns, soft suede and aqueous musk. It retraces the classic hesperidic/herbal cologney formula revisited in a sort of more contemporary "marina yachting" yuppie range which try to represent a sort of vaguely posh (white linen-kind) and "spring-summery" mediterranean-nautical aromatic concept. A "boat club type of fragrance" indeed. Vetiver comes up gradually well connected to vague aromatic-spicy ingredients and sporty-patchouly. Dry down is discreet, sharp, close to skin and virile, with this typical sporty mark a la Chopard Heaven/Dior Eau Sauvage/I Profumi di Firenze Fresco di Vetiver/Ralph Lauren Polo Blue (vaguely Aramis New West for its aromatic-marine approach) or stuffs like those (each one of the previous partially "taken" for several of its facets). Nothing original or to die for but surely a yet classic alternative for all the lovers of this "conceited" genre.

it belongs to the "old school", sugest outside activity, for a mature man. at the beguinning is very nice, but gets soapy along the day.nevertheless I like it very much because it is sutil, rminds a bit of eau sauvage.

at the end its worse shortage is a lack of personality: I remember at least 20 or more absolutely similar fragrances. Usual mix of citrusy and marine notes, very light and mild, maybe with a hint of basil and a short drydown with musk. I bought it once, it won't happen anymore.
