Bourbon French – Anastasia

The name Anastasia conjures an image of the tragic Russian princess, brutally murdered by the Bolsheviks in the early 20th century, immortalized in a play and later an Oscar winning film version. Bourbon French's scent of the same name combines vanilla and musk and is to my nose not at all evocative of the innocence and nobility I would associate with a scent so named.

This scent smells very like hundreds of other vanilla musk combos on the market and practically identical to the two other vanillic scents from this house: Vanille and Vanille Jardin. There is a reminiscence of Mugler's Angel here as well.

I can only give this a neutral rating. It is not bad on its own, but derivative, unimaginative, and flanking its own sisters of this house.

My spouse dubs it a rum raisin ice cream gourmand, impossible to imagine wearing in the heat of New Orleans.
