Animale Parfums (1994)

I love this! It's slightly powdery, sweet, vanillic and dark. Just the right amount of everything. To me, does not smell dated at all! To me, this is a close relative to Pure Havane, but not as strong. This brings me to my only criticism of this fragrance. I wish there was an EDP or beast mode formulation of this exact cologne, the way it is, just amped up.

If someone handed me a sample of Animale Animale as a gourmand niche fragrance and said 'try this', I'd sorta like it and sorta not - but I'd understand why it's a niche. I'd argue that to my nose it doesn't smell all that gourmand for quite a while, it's just a punchy and unusual blast of dark colors up front - but that as it dries down it becomes a caramelized and sultry affair that is very sensual and unique.

If instead you handed me Animale Animale as a $15-$20 fragrance you can get on Amazon, I'd say the fragrance was a masterpiece in its price class.

Sometimes reality is on our side.

(One note: Those people saying their bottles came all 'dinged up and covered in scuffs' - that's actually just the unfortunate design decision of the bottle. It is meant to look like marble, but comes across more like it was beaten up in transit.)

Caramelized pineapple and patchouli with a smoky undertone which in my opinion is more like burnt rubber than tobacco. Quite delicious. Great bottle and package!

don't get this confused with the other animale frag from this house...this is a steal for the price. chocolate ,vanilla, and sandalwood wrap their arms around the bergamot..this gives off a slight sweet plastic feel. this was a blind buy for me and i am pleased.

Wonderful, rich gourmand scent from Animale Parfums.

Normally, I think twice about wearing scents from the 90's, as many are just like their 80's predecessors: Loud, redundant, and forgettable...

Not so Animale Animale. With the chocolate note - as many have noted - there is a definite resemblance to A*Men by Thierry Mugler. Specifically, this one does have the requisite sweetness, but not in an overbearing way. Longevity is decent, and I do get compliments wearing this one.

I commend Animale Parfums for creating such a timeless, legendary formulation as this one. It may not be for everyone of course, but for the lover of things oriental and gourmand, Animale Animale is a balanced and pleasing option to consider.

Everything good about A*Men with none of the bad. Doesn't project or last as long but does a good job in both performance categories. In fact, I'd say it's the right amount of both to be less offensive and more versatile. It's like the everyday version of A*Men that you can wear to the office or wherever. Save A*Men for the club.
