Kilian Hennessy's Inspiration:

Inspired by the citiy of New York, KILIAN PARIS introduces its new addition to the Liquors olfactive family: Apple Brandy on the Rocks, an olfactive soundtrack to nightlife’s liberation to come. Apple Brandy was first conceived with perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur for the opening of KILIAN PARIS’s New York flagship eight years ago. The fragrance returns, featuring the original apple brandy core but, this time, with an added uplift—KILIAN PARIS’s signature “on the rocks” accord blended into the opening for an ice-cold liquored delight expressing a uniquely KILIAN PARIS character. A blend of bergamot, apple brandy and cardamon, the accord cools down the original, adding excitement and modernity.

The first time I smelled Apple Brandy on the Rocks was also the first time I smelled Angels' Share. They have many similarities in the smell, but Apple Brandy on the Rocks was lighter and less intoxicating than Angels' Share and my wife adored the sweeter, heavier scent, so I went with Angels' Share. Now that I am testing them again against each other, I still get the same impression. However, there's something to be said about the merits of Apple Brandy on the Rocks. If you like Angels' Share but find it challenging to wear because of how loud and heavy it can be at times, this is a great alternative. It has more of a fruity sweetness, isn't nearly as dark, nutty, or heavy, and has a light freshness that makes it wearable at work or in other close-quarter or warmer conditions.

This is a fun, versatile, and unique scent that is not redundant with Angels' Share. Also gets compared with Boss Bottled and Baldesserini Ambre. I can see that for both but this is better smelling and more refined than the Boss and more unique than the Baldesserini.

As stated before, this is a lighter scent but the projection is still decent and the longevity is very good, lasting 8-9 hours.

This fragrance is a slightly fruitier version of Boss Bottled with hints of pineapple and ambroxan. While it's a nice scent, I wish it lasted longer on my skin. It manages to strike a good balance between freshness and gourmand notes. However, like with most by Kilian fragrances, it is overpriced.

I wish this was cheaper. I really love the way the apple brandy onset dries past a boring apple body wash middle to a spiced apple vanilla custard scent. It's absolutely edible at the end, but the middle is so very uninspiring and it really reminds me mostly of cheap soap and candle fragrances for a lot of it's life, delicious dessert notwithstanding. I think I"m going to explore the dupes and see if someone has a version that is close but skips the body wash stages and goes to the smoky woody apple crumble ending. Going to give it a thumbs up because my main complaint is the price, which like many scents today, is ridiculously inflated for what you get.

Ok! Ladies and gents this is my review of apple brandy on the rocks that I hope answers all your questions about buying this.

First things first, I am a picky fragrance buyer. I want to own the scent that smells great but that few others are familiar with. Also, I am not a big fruity frag lover either.
Having said that, this is a fruity fragrance through and through but in a way I never knew I loved!

When I first smelled this, it made me think of apples soaked in an aged oak barrel of cognac. The vanilla supposedly in this is slight and in background. The ambroxan I pick out quick because it smells like the ambroxan in Le Labo's Another 13.

On its own, this scent is dynamic. For those of you that want this to blend into something even more unique...you can pair it with Another 13 for a high quality laid back frag for everyday wear. On its own, this can be worn year around.

For ladies that read that this scent is unisex, it very much so is! My wife pairs it with Maison's Baccarat Rouge 540 extract and that scent creates a woody, boozy clean fruit frag out of this world!!!

Longevity 9/10
Sillage 9/10

This is a little on the pricey side given max size of 1.7 oz.

Kilian has done it again!
At this point, I may end up owning every Kilian scent made! Never disappoints, great performance.

I haven't been out on the town with this one yet, but I will update on the compliment level!

Update: I wore this fragrance in Cancun for New Years and my buddy wore it as well. Compliment getter the entire night! Lasted the entire night too! I'm not even done with the bottle and I'm plotting another purchase.
There is a review saying this fragrance is rather boring and I'd say it's anything but. My buddy likened one of the ingredients to the incense in the Catholic church mixed with something sweet and something spiced. He's not much of a nose but it evoked a sense of nostalgia though he's never smelled it before!
Love the juice!

Okay. Let me start off by saying I first got to know the flanker, Apple Brandy on the Rocks and then received few mililiters of original Apple Brandy.

This is boozy, maybe even very boozy, especially in the beggining. I do smell alcohol whiffs, I wouldn’t say it’s just a regular high proof alcohol, rather something that has spent at least few years aging in oak barrels. More cognac/brandy than anything else, definitely not whisky/whiskey. There’s a prominent wood influence. There might be a twist of some vanilla, but it’s very few and far between, and it’s hidden behind other notes.

Longevity is 8-9 hours, sillage is heavy at the beginning, but it quickly sticks close to the skin and stays there. Rather an intimate, date scent.

Is it a full bottle worthy purchase? Yes, but not for the ebay prices, surely not 250 USD. I would rather suggest getting the flanker - Apple Brandy on the Rocks instead.

Apple Brandy on the Rocks smells like an apple more than the original version. The apple note has been performed in a fun way here; it's cheerful, fragrant and somehow fresh (I think they copied it from Maduro by Fort and Manlé). This perfume opens with a mild fluidy, fruity, light and designer-like smell. As you can guess from the notes listed, this isn't a mature or very masculine perfume, although it doesn't need to be one of those. It's easy to wear, not too heavy or suffocating. It dries down to a light version of Apple Brandy (2013) that has been mixed with a perfume like Boss Bottled (1998). In this stage, it has the tobacco-like and "wood barrel" character of the original version (due to vanilla and some woody notes). At the same time, it smells like some designer perfumes such as Boss Bottled and Baldessarini Ambré. It's almost a youthful scent, not too sweet or warm, that is nice for temperate climates. Honestly, I was expecting a more special and unique perfume; However, this is also good. I like its lightness and comfort. But still, it's a bit boring too. Outstanding longevity and moderate projection.
