Bulgari Man Black Cologne fragrance notes

Latest Reviews of Bulgari Man Black Cologne
More airy version of the original, but also of V&R Spicebomb. There is a bit of style that is complementary with Burberry Brit Rhythm Intese which is a bit more creamy/dirty, sort to speak.
I quite like it. Whole year rounder, day and night except for the winter evenings when it lacks the strength and power that's needed. When it comes to the winter nights, you'll have to reach for the original Bvlgari Man in Black or V&R Spicebomb and Spicebomb Extreme, or maybe Givenchy Gentlemen Only Absolute.
It doesn't lack character albeit the similarity with already existing fragrances on the market. Formal and casual day or night from spring to autumn, winter daily wear but not evening. A bit youthfull and also a bit mature, but a little more former than the latter.
Originality 4/10
Scent 7/10
Longevity 8/10
Projection 6/10

Disclaimer: I have never smelled the other Bulgari Man Black, Orient, Esssence, etc., fragrances, so I have no attachment to how this Cologne version should smell.
Review: It's different. It is floral, but not a typical sweet warm floral. It's more like a cold floral if that makes sense. The tag for this fragrance is burning water, so I do get that idea of hot and cold with this one. I get this feeling of clay with this fragrance. Clay and a cold floral note. It's interesting and I like it. It is not a common popular type of scent, which in my opinion is a good thing. I prefer something a little different. It does smell more upscale.
I don't get the rum note at all in this and I'm begining to feel this note doesn't translate on my skin or it is a note that is not distinct enough in the first place/is easy to smell like other things? Perhaps the clay smell is the rum note? I do get spices though. I guess that is the chilly in the rum? Never heard of a note called Chilly Rum.
Update: I'm really liking this one. I wish I would have bought a bigger bottle of this instead of L'homme Ideal Cologne.

I like the other Bulgari Man scents but this one seems to be the dullest of the batch. It doesn't smell bad but it lacks the citrus-spiciness of Man and Man Extreme while also missing out on Man in Black's sweeter, darker side. Just doesn't have that punch of something extra, but maybe that's the point.
It does resemble those other scents and might prove to be a compliment-getter due to its relaxed attitude and generally pleasing notes. Fresh, clean and masculine with nothing offensive.
Average projection.

This man in black is very fresh with the original dna in the background. i like it...its deep yet not as strong as the original but it lingers a long time. versatile for coller days and warmer days..year round..
Received a sample of this guy with an order of the Au Thé Noir I splurged on.
Opens with a flowery citrus and rum accord. By rum I mean an unsophisticated Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, but not in a bad or cheap way. There's a soapy vibe to this too, or so my nose believes.
The rum takes center stage, becomes a bit creamy with the help of sandalwood and eventually benzoin. I keep thinking "rum and coke", with the suggestion of spices... I almost smell Dr Pepper!
There's a weird period where this all but disappears. Even more strangely it reappears, and remains a white musk and slightly spiced benzoin for the rest of its short life. About 3 hours.
Not a bad scent, not exactly adventurous but able to hold my interest. I'm a fan of the sweetness and rum notes, and the other things in there to tone that sweetness down. A 5.5/10.

I never cared for the original, but this 'cologne' version gets it. Which means if you like the original you probably will not like this version.
Brighter, cleaner, yet manages to convey all the original's intent. There is a distinct 'cosmetic' quality that I like and have experienced before in previous Bulgari offerings.
Less is more.
Bravo.
