David Beckham Beyond is a woody-spicy-leathery fragrance launched in the 2015 and performed by Nelly Hachem-Ruiz. This is definitely another sporty, refreshing, virile, generic David Beckham's appointment in perfect David Beckham Perfums-style but it possesses an its own fruity-leathery and soapy final temperament and its special warm and intimate side. Dry down is distinguished, warm, classic and virile, it smells like an ideal blend of Ysl La Nuit de l'Homme with a tad of Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce (but there is something reminding me the greater and stouter vintage Boss Elements PH as well). If you appreciate scents (each of them for several of their characteristics) a la Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch, Mercedes Benz Men for man, Davidoff Cool Water, Emporio Armani Diamonds Rocks or even the old Boss Elements for man but actually prefer a more soothed, soapy, intimate and delicate version this fragrance would probably catch your interest. There is some pleasant soapy sort of nuttiness in it which I appreciate a lot. The kind of nuttiness (I call it this way - probably wrongly - because of my limited english) is probably afforded by the central/final main accord of woods, leather and vanilla. This fragrance smells really good on my skin but the main emotions rise along the dry down. The initial fizzy generic splash of citrus, leafy bitter/green florals as geranium, grapefruit and pepper, the Mojito's accord, leather and a soothing vanilla are the main discernible traits of the olfactory experience. Beyond opens sparklingly with its invigorating blast of Mojito's chord, fluidy cardamom, citrus and tart grapefruit. This initial connection is spicy (as switched on by a black pepper's presence rising in the meanwhile from the back), fresh, peppery and plays as a main theme for a while (more or less 30 minutes) namely till when a sort of woody/leathery nuttiness and some soothing vanilla keep emerging with their charge of woody sharper texture and with a more stable and dry soapy (slightly dusty) consistency. I don't see a lot of transition between the top and the dry down, just suddenly woods, balsams and leather start to emerge and sharpen the fresh initial blast of notes while I detect by soon the floral leafiness of the central floral patterns. Vanilla and patchouli provide warmth and soapiness but is the leather the main protagonist of the final stage. The latter provides warmth and suedish silkiness and the final trail appear this way so sensual/virile, warm, still peppery, slightly ambery in a warm way and definitely woody (the woods enrich the typical suedish smell with a sort of seasoned woody spark which is finally mild in to a vanillic and fruity way). On this final drier suedish stage I notice similarities between Beyond and Ysl La Nuit de L'Homme which smells in a similar spicy cardamomish cedary/fruity way, just being it more focused on herbal notes and vetiver (but I suppose many Ysl La Nuit de L'homme's notes are not listed and probably it shares several identical not listed elements with Beyond apart cardamom, cedar etc, I suppose hints of balsams and leather as well). When it comes to performances the David Beckham fragrances are not impressive but I have to say that, despite the poor projection, the Beyond's duration is "beyond" my expectations (more than 7 hours on my skin).

The opening blast mixes a citrus aroma - grapefruit and green apple together with a spicy undertone - cardamom with a hint of nutmeg. This is garnished with the purported mojito accent, which expresses itself as a somewhat generic and slightly boozy concoction. The initial impression is that of a slightly spicy citrus-freshness.

In the drydown the spiciness become more prominent, with a rather dark floral background of a weak rose and a more distinct geranium component. A pleasant vanilla in co-operation with a rather synthetic patchouli dominates the base.

The sillage is moderate, the projection excellent and the longevity a good seven hours on my skin.

This autumnal scent is as versatile as it is lacking a convincingly distinctive quality. Nonetheless, the opening is nice and with an original touch, but the rest is a tad too generic.
Overall in the neutral range. 2.75/5.

Poor, generic, redolent of Sauvage. Haven't we suffered enough?

David Beckham, now I give up wearing fragrance this gets any kudos. I will stick to my bar of Imperial Leather Soap. Utter tripe. Wonder if he approached Sam Allardyce on how to get good reviews?

Reviews.. misleading to me (especially on Fragrantica). the nose behind this is a highly praised one, but the does that mean the fragrance will be great? In this case, no. Cheap ingredients, and obviously a budget to work with can't help Roucel make a great Beckham fragrance.

This opens with a lime, woods, cardamom combo. Then it dries into a same ole', same ole' boring tonka bean base.

The best part about this utterly generic, and boring scent is the bottle.

But.. for the $15 I paid for the bottle, I could use it to spray the sheets with.. it's a soothing smell to sleep with.

A modern, typical mainstream woody-spicy fragrance. Nothing original about but it does imitate well more expensive counterparts. It's not a complete synthetic mess, which is very positive considering the price.

So, maybe it's cheap but it doesn't smell cheap. For every day use, whole year fragrance for all instances - work/office, date, clubbing etc.

For those who want to smell good for a low price. Thumb up from me.

Originality 5/10
Scent 7/10
Longevity 7/10
Projection 7/10
