Dunhill Pure wears as a fresh aquatic / shower gel scent. When smelled up close, there are some greener elements, and the notes of lotus. Any spices are dialled to the absolute minimum. The "Pure" name is appropriate given it smells fresh, clean, even simple. There's a soft quality to it with a vague soapy-musky drydown that's quite sparse. It smells quite unisex, and, if the quality and complexity were a couple of notches higher, it wouldn't be out of line in the Hermes Les Jardins series. Any guy expecting any herbal/aromatic or spicy element is likely to be disappointed. Sillage is muted, and longevity is on the shorter side. One could do much worse, just as one could do much better as well.

A pleasant, if a little weak, floral/citrus scent. Very fresh and the dry down becomes more soapy and floral. A good summer scent.

When the much derided category of fresh/aquatic/sport scents is discussed, this one should be in the mix. It is a light, pleasant, synthetic, boring and forgettable. Underneath this boring purity is a slightly salty skin scent. Dunhill put this out the same year as Pursuit, (which is better, with its amber and spices) and appears to have forgotten about it. It was never marketed and it seems to have come and gone without any notice. Even Dunhill seems to have been bored with it. The best thing going is its re-use of the earlier Dunhill for Men bottle, this time in frosted glass. This is possibly the low water mark for this house, whose earlier classics ('34, Edition, Blend 30) are masterpieces and their later scents--Desire, Excentric, etc.--are decent. Dunhill is trying to regain some lost ground with their latest offerings (Custom, 51.3N, etc.) but they have a long way to go! I am wearing this as I write the review and after about two hours it is almost completely gone, although there is a slight lingering scent as if one had taken a bath with Mr. Bubble hours earlier.

A very weird cologne that smells different every time(in a way). I'm halfway through my bottle and have only got 1 compliment. Certainly not my fave Dunhill.

Now that the bottle is done, still only 1 compliment out of the whole bottle. To sum it up, this scent is: boring, mild, unusual, forgettable, and at times, gross. Evade this Dunhill selection from your wardrobe! Glad this crap is gone! :)

Pleasant, uninspired yawnwear...perfect for office drones in small cubicles who might otherwise offend their co-workers with a more aggressive and interesting fragrance. There's nothing wrong with Dunhill Pure other than marginal longevity -- but there's nothing in the bottle that will bring a smile to your face, either. The office equivalent of a day full of data entry...I'm get drowsy just thinking about it.

Very appealing linear fragrance. There are fresh and astringent notes with the underlying Dunhill sophistication that imbues all of its scents. Perfect for the dressy casual function.
