Durocaffè is another amazing creation from Bois 1920, an italian niche brand I'm starting to appreciate more and more. The nose behind is the emergent italian performer Cristian Calabro (Antonio Maretti, Bois 1920, The House of Oud etc). This is a 50 ml extrait de parfum (I suppose it is the unique "format"), entering the Bois 1920's élite Collections Prestige. For starters this is not exactly a straightforward coffee-dominant fragrance (I mean a one single note exclusively dominant) but much more precisely a toasted-coffee/dark chocolate combo-dominant fragrance. Actually in order to well catch the real spirit of this fragrance the two former dark edible notes can't be disassociated. Coffee and dark chocolate are indeed absolutely catalyzing the 90% of the whole aroma playing a veritable teamwork (being the other notes as just accessorial under my profane nose). This fragrance is not overly sweet (the sweetness is correctly calibrated by a slightly spicy dark cocoa-undertone quite perceivable and due to a burnt sugary processed note) or a gourmandish stuff. Chocolate in its darkest rendition is the erotic x factor of the whole olfactory fatigue. Anyway here I'm experiencing in absolute the most extraordinary, dark and realistic "on chocolatey coffee focused" fragrance I've tested on skin in my whole life (in which anyway the note of coffee is more stressed than in other yet strong coffee dominant fragrances as for instance Teatro Olfattivo di Parma Bell'Antonio - which is anyway a two notes dominant with its toasted espresso and the ashy tobacco - Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka, Mancera Amore Caffè, Montale Intense cafè, Versatile Croissant Cafè and more - I've never tested Caffè Ristretto by Montale). In particular I enjoy in here the way in which the note of toasted coffee is calibrated in its combination with a wonderful dark chocolate (as well in here realistic, standing out and dark as I've rarely tested on other one note dominant dark chocolate-based fragrances as Chocolate Amere by il Profvmo, Delicious Black Powder by Jousset Parfums, Vanille Chocolat di Laurence Dumont or stuffs like those). In to a nutshell Durocaffè is totally dominated by two notes, the note of coffee (in here super toasted, dark, bitter-mild, burnt sugary and dirty in the best way you can figure out), than (barely a step behind) dark chocolate which provides a sort of vaguely (ostensibly) fecal/acid (don't quote me wrong or badly interpret on what I mean, please), organic "intimate parts-like subtle undertone" and an ashtoningly sensual and pungent (somewhat dissonant and acid) dirtiness which talks about sex, naughtiness and sinny prohibited dark metropolitan venues. The note of vanilla is a complementing note and it just slightly tames down the licoricey and toasted roaring wildness of the elements (dark cocoa and toasted coffee). This is a toasted kind of coffee (is like smelling a burnt coffee-bean in its almost metallic, dirty, burnt and licoricey vibe) that is connected to the darkest kind of 90% pure dark chocolate and with a rooty edgy untamed patchouli in order to unfold a beast of erotism and commanding dark naughtiness. I don't detect at all any rose on my skin (unless it is not that tad of final neutral soapiness I get) or herbal patterns while I enjoy a lot a sort of final spicy amber (synth ambergris type) which provides a basic touch of classicism and a sort of peppery organic warmth (perfectly matching with patchouli) quite sensual, virile and restrained. The two dominant notes (which are like going to lose along the way their edible substance) are rendered out in a special fancy-enigmatic dark way. In conclusion this is undeniably an unusual urban dirty sensual and mysterious fragrance (despite founded on weird and more traditionally "agricole" edible notes), a fragrance for naughty wolves of the night, a super modern avant-garde type of clubbing or "swinger's party-type" metropolitain futuristic appointment I'm going to purchase as soon as I can.
