EAU DE PLUIE (Bourbon French)

Described as having “fresh notes” supported by sandalwood, Eau de Pluie (literally Rain Water) is a very light wood scent. I have not as yet sampled Bourbon French's soliflore Sandalwood scent, so cannot compare.

Eau de Pluie has an intriguing undernote, reminiscent of the dry scent of freshly picked chrysanthemum flowers, the slightest whiff of an autumn potpourri.

I find it odd that BF also has a simple La Pluie scent, which is an entirely different feminine scent, made up of tuberose, muguet, vanilla and musk, and is an old fashioned, somewhat heavy, floral best suited to a mature woman.

Eau de Pluie is the sort of scent I think of as for the man who is not interested in scent, but wants to wear “something.” It is so light, neutral, and inoffensive, that it seems quite a safe bet. As such, it is certainly unisex.

It is perfectly pleasant, but unremarkable.

First Edit: That intriguing scent suddenly worked on my olfactory memory and reminded me of a pleasantly scented insect repellent I used in the late 1940s and early 1950s, redolent, as I believe, of quinine, a natural mosquito repellent. So, perhaps the mystery ingredient is indeed quinine, pleasant, but truly useful as well in warm weather.
