Blecch!

Goodness this is bad, so bad. So so bad that I really can’t believe that this is an actual cologne, or something that one would apply to themselves to smell ‘odorous’. I will say ghastly is the word.

Take two parts salon perm stench from 1978 and blend with one part Fresh Step kitty litter. Then sprinkle a pinch of sulphur on top with a very lovely finish of nauseatingly metallic musk and bam! you’ve got yourself Ajmal’s Evoke Gold Edition for Him. This trash is hella offensive. The real kicker though is that match stick head sulphur right out of the gate that’s the cherry on top for offensiveness which prevails throughout the entire dry down. It’s like three bizarre accords all grafted on top of each other that just do not belong together, ever.

Apparently this is supposed to be a carbon copy of Prada’s something or other for men. I pity the Prada.

Somewhere between an amber and a milky coffee gourmand, but with a metallic designer sheen on top. This lives in the vast expanse between YSL L'Homme and Rouge 540, nicer than YSL because it's not so cheaply metallic and aquatic, but not as nice as Rouge 540 because the designer sheen cheapens it.

I'd place it in the same general space as Halston Man Amber, or Bond No 9 NY Amber, but with the coffee added. There's also fruit and spices, which makes it call to mind the many Middle Eastern clones of Ambre Narguile, but the coffee and metallics instead of the ash you'd expect from the genre make Evoke Gold Edition stand out.

Nicely done for the price, to the point where I'm even willing to overlook the metallic designer sheen (which I usually hate) and vote thumbs up, because Evoke makes it work.
