Acqua di Taormina Ficuviddi is another winner (I'd say good seller) for this little italian well run and quite particular perfume house. Acqua di Taormina aims (by its natura-inspired fragrances) to evoke the main natural and enviromental characteristics of Sicily, namely a spectacular italian region rich of variegate history (with the versatility of its architectural styles deriving from the diverse historical dominations on it) and naturalistic beauties. Ficuviddi is a figgy blue slighty aquatic kind of fragrance, a sort of more subtle Dolce & Gabbana K Parfum turning actually out in to a less muscular and a more airy and delicate way. It possesses a blue woodsy-aquatic cedary structure a la Aqua dell'Elba, Alfred Dunhill Dunhill Pure, D&G Light Blue Pour Homme, Armaf Blue Homme, Guy Laroche Horizon or Nautica Blu (cedarwood, aquatic notes, cypress or aromatics, grapefruit, leafy violet, dry geranium or jasmine, musk, sandalwood, ambroxan etc, etc) which is "customized" by a notable figgy mediterranean tone a la Profumi di Polignano Magnifico (a fragrance that is anyway neither properly "blue" in structure nor specifically aquatic, despite its similar green mediterranean figgy-resinous temperament). This figgy presence is in Ficuviddi vivid, natural, almost ripe, slightly lactonic/resinous, dreamy and summery. The note of fig is the fruity representation of the southern italian "exotic" (or better, kind of exotic) summer (sunny countryside's dull days, bugs rattle, a bright luminous blue sky, sleepy afternoons, citrus groves in the vicinity, lazy lizards under the scorching sun). I'd figure as well on mind the image of somebody eating ripe figs under the scorching sun on the shore, with feet in the blu transparent water of Jonio sea. I have to add that the blue sporty vibe is not in here commanding and utterly dominating as in such type of fragrances a la Bleu de Chanel, Ralph Lauren Polo Sport or Bond n.9 Wall Street but kind of toned down and perfectly paired with the green figgy presence (the other side of the coin). Salty iodate, bleu cedary/citric/floral and figgy resinous notes mingle together on a typical blue olfactory "basement". The bottom line is that we are dealing with a wonderful breezy blue figgy mediterranean aroma rich of botanical freshness and dreamy easy going dandyism, a sort yacting club-posh neo-classic fragrance smelling about class, freshness, good life, red sunsets and dynamism. Evolution and structure are well performing according with my point of view. Excellent quality-costs ratio and more than good performances on my skin.
