This is a thumbs up amber fragrance – unusual in that it is not as sweet as amber fragrances often are. It has an enjoyable neutral feeling about it – neutral and smooth and just-comfortably sweet with a touch of the edgy. It is the vanilla and the woods – juniper, rosewood, and white pine – that provide that pleasant neutrality. Even though the vanilla and amber are toned down to a burnt, caramelized semi-sweetness, the accord approaches gourmand at times … yet it's never too sweet for me. The juniper and rosewood give an almost incense edge to the sweetened woody accords, but the whole effect is a masculinely sensual, laid back comfort. This is a man's amber scent (women could easily wear it, too) with marginal sillage and tremendous longevity. I enjoy Golden Priapus and it looks like it's going to be a purchase for me.
