Herb Alpert

Herb Alpert is a jazz musician, best known for his work with the Tijuana Brass band as well as being the co-founder of A&M Records (along with Jerry Moss). Alpert has sold over 72 million records in his career, which began in 1957.

In the late eighties and early nineties Alpert launched two fragrances : Listen and Listen for Men. But this isn't the usual tale of using a celebrity to sell a scent. Alpert decided not to just sell his name to another brand to use (a la Jennifer Lopez with Coty, or Paris Hilton with Parlux). He ended up with his own fragrance company.

As well as creating his own 'Listen' fragrances, the company also made scents for Sharper Image and distributed fragrances for Moschino, Romeo Gigli, Dolce & Gabbana and Abboud in the USA.

However, the success was short-lived and the company went into liquidation, Alpert however shows no sign of giving up the trumpet.
