The name Hesperides stands for citrus notes and according to the description at Angela Flanders' web site this concoction includes: bergamot, lemons, limes & grapefruit shimmer on a green woody base of vetivert & oak moss! It's true, the opening is very citrusy and somewhat sweet. This zest settles very fast and within 3 hours I can only smell incense! Incense is not supposed to be there so I assume that what I perceive as incense could very well be the vetiver and oak moss base. But could it be that this Hesperides is not so true to its name? Having said this, Hesperides is a very nice fragrance, it is well constructed and pleasant. The dry down is particularly enveloping alas the silage is poor. Unfortunately it is not clear if the samples for sale at Angela Flanders' site are of the eau de toilette or the eau de parfum version. I would assume that they are of the eau de toilette and therefore I review Hesperides as an eau de toilette. As such is pleasant but not impressive. If on the other hand the sample is of an eau de parfum then this is quite a disappointing one.
