Neutral Reviews of Millésime Impérial by Creed
Yeah, a really pleasant oceanic cantaloupe with a base of floral and musk. Definitely unisex. This is cloned by the hollister H for him fragrance that's $17/50ml. It is very pleasant and I enjoy this, but I think it's too unisex to be attractive on a man or woman. Pass.
What comes to mind when wearing this scent is Lois Griffin's description of their stay in purgatory during Peter's week off: "This isn't bad. It's not that good. But... eh, it's not that bad".
On my skin Millesime Imperial has no body or character and it wears off pretty quickly as well. Once my sample is all used up that will be the end of that.

I was a little disappointing upon receiving my sample based on the many glowing reviews.
Opens with oceanic salty (water?)melon with the metallic note reminiscent of Silver Mountain Water soon appearing. Classic Creed base evident in the dry down with just a touch of salt and fruitiness.
It's better than SMW but still, something about that metallic note is discordant with my nose. Performance can also be compared to SIW.

The opening is combining sweet and salty accords; it is crisp, fruity (melon), salty, sweet and green. It smells of a sunny day at the ocean. The scent is interesting and quite nice for a couple of hours after which it just becomes a banal musky/synthetic scent that barely stays on the skin.
My wife thinks it smells like hairspray. It has natural amber (Sperm whale fecal matter) at its base, that is generally used in all Creed fragrances and has very natural notes to it. It's something that you'd expect to smell on an older gentleman in an old folks home. Overpriced and overrated in my opinion.

A more tolerable, less cloying Royal Copenhagen.
Not very excited by this one. The shiny gold metallic bottle was the prime reason that I blind bought this niche scent - as well as anecdotal info about some rich Middle Eastern sheikh allegedly liking it. LOL!
Anyhow, this fragrance is definitely rife with the Creed ambergris accord through and through; but its melony tartness and airy spice-woods mix didn't impress me.
Plus, Millésime Impérial didn't last too long on me. That fact would really have bothered me if I DID buy it at full retail cost! (I bought a discounted bottle online.)
Acquired taste, I guess.

This one isn't exactly for me. I've tried it a few times and I do enjoy Creed fragrances, but it's an odd sour-salty-sweet fragrance, but more sour and salty than sweet. After the extended sour-fruity top phase fades into the middle, I'm left with the floral/Sandalwood/ambergris middle of Erolfa but a bit more sour and less pleasant. Might as well just stick with Erolfa, which is far more interesting to me, and where that middle phase is truly blissful.
This doesn't smell "like money", that's an illusion that I think must be perpetuated by the cost of the fragrance.
As far as longevity, most Creeds use Ambroxan as part of their ambergris approximation, and it lasts for a very long time but fatigues your nose so that you can't really smell it anymore. This is no exception. Fragrances tend to last forever on me, so I detect MI on my skin for about seven to nine hours (most people seem to experience 4-6), but I can almost bet that when I jump in the shower in the morning I'll smell it again thanks to that chemical base.
Overall, this is essentially an Erolfa flanker to me. I'll stick with the original this time around.

Man what an amazing fragrance but yet so disappointing. So fruity and fresh with that classic melon note. After 15min, on my skin this produces such a wonderful half an arms length scent aura. After 2-3hours it just gets stuck on my skin. For the performance the price cant be justified and doesn't deserve a thumbs up. IMO
I'll give it a thumbs up, but it deserves a thumbs down for the price and what you get. This is good for a date night or some close quarters love making, but that's about it. Outside of intertwining your body with your significant other and hugging someone, nobody even knows you are wearing it. I have asked many people their opinion of the scent by having them smell me because you can't smell it from even a foot away, and nobody was particularly impressed except my girlfriend.
The scent leaves a lot to desire at $330. It really is heavenly, for about 10 minutes, and only to you and your significant other.

Millesime Imperial is not the champion of the fresh Creeds to me, but its popularity certainly gives it more consideration than I might give other fragrances. While it smells overwhelmingly orange on me, I admit that it's grown on me, and I've come around to agree that it rightfully has a place in the Creed pantheon, I nonetheless wouldn't opt to purchase a bottle, as I prefer the citrus in Himalaya and Aventus much more, and even the top notes of Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, and even Original Santal are more on point with what I like, and with what I believe is flattering on me. That said, I can understand why MI is a staple for many, as I imagine the citrus is more pleasant on many others than it is on me.
More objectively, MI is at least an interesting composition, with orange (the dominant note of my experience) and lemon in the heart, a mix of notes on top, and musk and woodsiness (cedar always seems like a safe guess when it's slightly sweet). Its projection is probably more limited than its fresh Creed brethren, and longevity is about the same (medium range, 6-8 hours). Surely an entry worthy of trying with the all the hype, if you haven't already. Many swear by it, and while I'm not one, fresh input is always welcome.

A fresh, slightly-citrus, slightly-salty, slightly-musky generic fragrance.
I would imagine those who like Bleu de Chanel or Bond No. 9 Wall Street would like this. They don't smell alike, but they're made in the same spirit.
My wife HATES this on me (as well as Himalaya and GIT).
I would have never purchased a bottle of this at the regular retail price.
Luckily, I got a tester bottle at a discount from a store.
I find that when I wear this, I either spray too much or not enough.
Also, if I don't spray enough, the smell goes by in waves (today, for instance).
If I spray too much, it's overwhelming for a while.
I like seeing the bottle on the shelf, but I'm not going to strain any muscle reaching for it.

I had a sample of MI several years ago and although I liked the fragrance a lot, I didn't purchase a bottle because it just didn't perform well on my skin. I was given another small sample by a friend and since I had a nice spring day at the beach house, I gave it another try.
Again, I really enjoy this fragrance. It's got wonderful melon top notes and a slight salty accord over the trademark Creed ambergris and woods base that performs well for about an hour, then I get about three more hours of skin scent before it disappears all together. Wish it would perform better.
It is close in class to several other fragrances I own and get better performance from, including several other Creed's, so I can't recommend MI. However it's worth sampling as others have no problem with it.

Notes: crisp fruit notes, sea salts, Sicilian lemon, bergamot, mandarin, Florentine iris, musk, woody and marine notes.
Imperial Millesime was originally created for King Faisal of Saudi Arabia – for himself and members of his court. A salty watermelon aquatic over Creeds trademark Millesime ambergris base. Smells expensive, garners compliments and is extremely versatile, yet poor longevity has always stopped me from procuring a bottle. I'll also add that to me personally it resembles a watered down Green Irish Tweed, making it somewhat redundant.

Musky fruit and salt water that eventually becomes musky wood and salt water. Very little progression, the salt is much more prominent than I thought it would be.
I'm a bit disappointed in it, to be honest.
I was hoping for a variation on the Aquatic theme as good as Erolfa, which feels more like a cold North American shore than Imperial, which feels like a sweaty hot Mediterranean one.
Sometimes when I smell it I get an "old book" smell.
Edit: Upon further use I've been getting more and more "old book", ie old paper, which I think comes from the salt, musk, and woods.
I asked my girlfriend what she thought. She said it was "okay", but really strong.

The sweet, yet crisp top notes of Millésime Impérial are very, very pretty. Perhaps even a little too pretty for me. Though the strong fruit (melon?) component is charming, the equally conspicuous citrus note seems rather conventional.
At first I was baffled by the comparisons with Silver Mountain Water, since that scent's currant/tea accord is much more herbal and earthy to my nose. But as the millésime base revealed itself during the (very rapid) drydown, I began to see the point. The base of this fragrance is much like that of Silver Mountain Water, and even resembles Green Irish Tweed.
Since Millésime Impérial both reveals its base and fades quickly on me, I don't experience it as a distinguished or individual scent. In fact, the whole thing is pretty much gone within three hours. Nice, yes, and very well put together, but not terribly useful to me as a wardrobe item.

Melon, salt, some sweetish 'ambergris', something vaguely spicy and some clean white musk. Fresh, easy to wear, but lacking in any particularly striking characteristic. It's nice enough but verging on boring. Also projection is weak and longevity poor, even with 15 sprays (maybe I fell victim to batchitis but I'm not sufficiently intrigued to explore further). One of those scents whose popularity leaves me scratching my head. If there can be such a thing as 'very average', this is it.
I'm still on the fence about this fragrance. I have a 30ml sample decant and I must say that Sea Salt note is the loud mouth of this fragrance. None of the other notes gets their moment to shine.
When I bought this I blind bought it just knowing how good Creeds other fragrances were and my favorite colognes are airy, fruity ones so I thought this was sure to be a new favorite for me. Unfortunatly, though I found out the hard way why its important to sample stuff first
I must say though that this is very nice and all but it didnt quite live up to my expectations. I really did enjoy the salty opening and the fruitiness of it but honestly theres a lot of designer scents that have a similar vibe to this that I like a lot better than this that are also a lot more kind to my wallet.
Like I said the opening is nice but im not too big a fan of the heart and drydown in this as they smell a little bland on my skin at least and I much rather prefer I AM KING and Love and Luck over this.

Have to agree on the "odd-sour" openingPretty good scent. For some reason though, it tends to make me a bit nauseous in the beginning. I'm not sure why because the scent does have its fine points. Maybe it just doesn't mix well with my chemistry.Pros: Relatively nice scent. Does have a rather strange scent at first. Dry down is a bit better.Cons: Cost and while I don't think it's an offensive smell, it might not work in an office environment"
On a good batch it's really nice smelling, on a bad batch it smells bad. On a good batch, it lasts a few hours more than the first few hours; on a bad batch it lasts 3 hours and that's it. Too weak, no projection, inconsistency in smell (even in newer batches)..too risky. Shame really.
I blind-bought a bottle of this b/c it was so praised on BN. Every time "Best fragrance ever" is posted, MI pops up. Well, it was the most expensive bottle of generic floral nothing that I ever bought. I am not a "Creed Hater" I own MI, GIT, Royal Oud, Aventus...and they are all unique. BUT this is a floral, generic scent. If it had a designer label instead of the Creed label, people would be criticizing its boring scent. I wouldn't mind so much except that it was $200. That is the kick in the teeth. It's longevity is 4hrs without having to lift the shirt.
Zesty fruity top paired with a breezy cool aquatic accord that lasted all of 3 hours on my skin as it gives way to that typical Creed faux ambergris drydown. MILLESIME IMPERIAL is a pleasantly refreshing fragrance that was [imho] perfected and overtaken a year later in 1996 by Armani's sensational Aqua di Gio pour Homme. Tightwads around the world, rejoice!
Smells like a generic flanker. If this had been put out by YSL, or Chanel, people would be ranting as to how little creativity was used, and giving it overwhelming thumbs down. BUT because it came from the great house of Creed, it gets thumbs up. It isn't bad, but not worthy of wasting your money on. Mellon and floral. big deal.
