Armani Privé Rose Alexandrie by Giorgio Armani
Totally biased but this is an excellent rose. I want to spend an entire summer in the searing heat lifting weights in the garage with the door open and working on cars in the driveway with my friends, listening to badass dude musicThen when the sun starts to set I want to take a shower, put on a slick black breezy outfit and wear armani rose alexandrie out with my wife and all of our friends
What an impact this one had on me
Millésime 1849 by Creed
Wow what an accomplishment. Whatever Creed intended to do here I'm not aware but something has been done and it is clear, whatever it may beADVERTISEMENT
Spice and Wood by Creed
A very good woody citrus with an extra interesting sour noteMillesime 1849 (2023 version) by Creed
cypress so strong I can't stop thinking about it, not bad but grassy as all get out. more in line with an art houseGreen Irish Tweed by Creed
The older stuff is thick and syrupy coded. I've used that slang correctly. Indescribable scent in my opinion5/5

Eau Rihla by Diptyque
There are a few preliminaries to discussing a perfume like this. First of all the brand is a business and not an art house or anything of the such. Secondly they know who there audience is, they market directly towards them and that is that. There is nothing wrong with this but it needs to be said if the person reading this decides to go to their local mall and buy a bottle. It's not a bad perfume, if you're looking for a dirtier raspberry masc stuff that's been radiating out from Tom Ford's sphere of influence lately and you want it rather linear with an overt nod towards what is perceived as Middle Eastern sensibilities then this may be for you
It is a little pricey and should be got second hand unless one desires the 'at the counter' purchasing experience
Other than that yeah the scent is reflected by the bottle and vibe in my opinion. A smokey but sweet drier sort of pungent desert opulence thing.
I don't love it, I don't wear my sample much after the first few tries but it's just not my bag. If it IS your bad then go ahead and enjoy!
Tom Ford Noir Extreme Parfum by Tom Ford
There is a headiness in the parfum that isn't present for me otherwise. By headiness I mean an otherwise off-putting note that I just adore.Of the few opinions you'll hear of this perfume the most common are "Not different enough to justify existing" and "off putting note". Usually I'm the one scrunching my nose at smells people find grotesquely charming, but I just can't get enough of this stuff. It is a go to evening perfume, one of the few my wife will reliably compliment and the all gold bottle fits the tacky corner of my tastes just fine.
If you can get it for a fair price [like I did thanks to the basenotes community] don't pay attention to the chatter that may imply you should feel shame for owning this one. It is a cult classic in at least this house. Enjoy!
Victorian Tobacco by Galleria Parfums
Fantastic tobacco, but you have to be able to appreciate stuffy personalities because the Victorianism of it is certainly present. Great for colder nights, there would be better hot weather styles out there but do you. Definitely a bottle that authentically represents the atmosphere in my opinion. Enjoy!Explorer by Montblanc
If Pepsi is a Coke clone then I guess Explorer is an Aventus cloneIt's just that Aventus set a trend and Mont Blanc [justifiably] followed it
This is much more fun and casual than Aventus, it's a nice, crisp summer time freshie imo
Sharp and dry, pineapple leaning citrus and a pleasant albeit linear woodsy dry down
Love it, wear it all of the time. Makes me feel alive and energized lol
Bel Ami by Hermès
Technically there's nothing more I can add. One of if not the ideal lemony leather masculine leaning perfumesI will say that rumors of it having crazy good longevity are true in my experience, and I'm a hound for something I can smell all day
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford
It's pipe tobacco and vanilla. The ingredients could be of the highest quality and the formula could be resoundingly clever but to me it smells like a getting out of Thursday detention to unroll mats and set up for bingo night in the gymRoyal Oud by Creed
If this is oud then sign me up but I think it’s more of a woodsy, peppery tobacco affair, which I love. Smells natural and all but 2 pricey retail 4 me lolQuercia by Acqua di Parma
I hadn't smelled any Aqua di Parma before and nothing I whiffed from the display stood out to meI'm new to the hobby and I have bad taste
The sales rep was a cool older woman wearing a big layered fabricy black outfit with large pearl necklaces and a grown out black buzz cut
I asked her what she liked and she picked out Quercia and then told me how to say it
She said she thought it smelled sexy and I said 'I agree'
We talked about how men my age often gravitate towards something like the neighboring Parfums de Marly stand, where sexy is a deep, sweet something or other. Until their partner usually speaks up
But here in Parma sexy is a lighter lemon / bergamot crispy wet top that never gets too sweet and dries around into this very polite but dirtier [in this eras standards] base
All in all it was a lovely experience and a great reminder of the group learning and social understanding that I like so much about perfume
same with cooking / eating / drinking / music, the kind of stuff that brings people together. seems Italian to me
Absolu Aventus by Creed
Wow this smells really good. Like Sauvage elixir with pineapple. It's a real shame culturally speaking Creed charges so much and seems to just keep charging more. I'm sure it's great for the shareholders though.Black Phantom by Kilian
This has to be the best roasted marshmallow accord at Saks! The only thing that puts me off is the [idk] Onekh medicinal oud? Labdanum? Stank? Would be Thumbs Up if I could wear it but it's still made well.Le Gemme : Onekh by Bulgari
Could this be described as a medicinal oud? Obviously well blended but I find the dry down nauseating, I'm likely just too weak willed and inexperienced to enjoy it but I can appreciate it... as long as the testing strip is wrapped in a dryer sheet before placed in the waste bin :]Club de Nuit Sillage by Armaf
Listen this smells great for what it is. I got it off of amazon for like what, $30?Enough has been said about this history of this sector and Creeds current place in the market
If you want a sub $50 Silver Mountain Water profile great news this is awesome
If you're like me and you think Silver mountain water is just fine then you'll probably feel the same about this, noting that is has a bitter/stale/sourness that prevents it from being smooth
Unfortunately if you love Silver Mountain Water I can't imagine this satisfying you anymore than that nature valley bar that just disappointed me
The Most Wanted Parfum by Azzaro
I got it from the Father's day sample pack sale Dillards has going on right nowReminds me specifically of walking through the flea market as a kid in Kentucky.
It had been built over years and years so none of the walls or lights ever conformed for too long of a stretch.
Shambled hallway after hallway dense with stoner art and incense. Old ladies selling spicy fresh wicker art. Old men selling greasy tools and sculptures with corks.
A tornado took it down when I was a teenager and the new joint is fine, lacks character
Great presentation, soft and fruity with enough spice to stop it from reading too sweet in my opinion
I asked my partner if they liked it and they said yeah and then a little later said "yeah that really does smell good"
Gentleman Society by Givenchy
I really like Gentlemen Society for one simple reason- it immediately transports me to working at Hollister in high school and just blasting the store down in 'Jake'Giant commercial spray bottle and everything
And I mean that, this stuff hangs around. Real thick like
Varanis kept referring back to a vacation vibe and to get more granular I would say hanging around in the pool connected lobby
The clinical sterility of an expensive hotel in constant struggle against the ravenous Summer air and parade of beach accoutrement families keep dragging in and out of the double automatic doors
There are too many smells, you don't hate them but the fern next to you is a reminder of fresh air
Toy Boy by Moschino
First off just ignore anyone who said they smelled this and didn't like it, it makes the heart skip a beat. It has an endorphin rush tied to it and plenty of people dislike thatI don't like toy boy in the traditional sense, but I don't imagine it was designed in that way
I think toy boy was intended to make a statement, to be a little confrontational and to reward the people who engage
I won't get into trying to describe the notes because toy boy is above my head
I got a whiff of my Mont Blanc Individuel at work and thought of toy boy, so what I can say with confidence it that it leaves an impression :)
