Please feel free to talk about what you bought today, (or are waiting for in the mail)

Try and refrain from just naming the perfume or posting a picture - maybe tell us something about why your bought it? Was it a bargain? Is it a blind buy or just a re-purchase of an old fragrance.

Bought today but won’t ARRIVE until 2024. 🤪

I bought this blind from an online supplier for a few reasons…. 1. I had a bunch of $10 GCs from previous purchases, 2. It was heavily discounted in the first place, 3. I can always use more summer fresh scents as my collection leans heavily towards cooler weather, and 4. I recently found Nicolai and can’t get enough of her fragrances (this is #6 in Dec)!

I've read overall positive reviews and, after a little back and forth, it appears that my offer, $12 including shipping, was accepted this New Year's Day morning. 🎉

(According to my research, there are two versions; this one being the original with Puig logo on the bottom of the box and Antonio Puig on the bottle face at the bottom.)

I live in a country with severely limiting restrictions on sending and receiving fragrance internationally, so I have to plumb the depths of the country's only online fragrance outlet in search of promising blind buys. The site has a huge selection but a bit of a haphazard one -- a range of interesting cheapies and old school fragrances, and a seemingly random assortment of higher-end brands. Having been recently bitten by the fragrance bug yet again after a four-month hiatus, I went on a research rampage through the outlet, Basenotes and other frag sites the past few evenings and have whittled the available options down to 15 fragrances I will definitely blind buy, 4 of which I just ordered to start things off:

  1. Mauboussin Homme - Fascinated by this one both for its history and also for the fact that that lavender-cinnamon combo totally sounds like my jam.
  2. Trussardi Riflesso - Been developing an interest in exploring more Italian scents after falling head over heels for Moschino Uomo recently. This was apparently awarded best perfume in Italy by the Academia del Profumo. Supposedly close to LNDLH, hopefully not redundantly so.
  3. Robert Talbott - A total under-the-radar cheapie that's been mentioned only in passing on Basenotes but has been quietly developing some positive buzz elsewhere. They say it's a brighter, sparklier version of TdH with decent presence and longevity. Excited to see whether it lives up, and it was so inexpensive that the blind buy won't hurt either way.
  4. L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme Intense - Though I've only ever owned the original (and had my moments of both blissful love and extreme loathing towards it), I've always admired Miyake's willingness to experiment, often in these dry abstract conceptual directions. I can't wait to get my hands on this one. I'm not even confident I'll like it... I'm just so intrigued that I don't care.
Let's see how long I can wait until pulling the trigger again. Bitten pretty hard by the bug this time!

I'll be interested in hearing your impressions of Trussardi Riflesso. It's been sorta, kinda on my radar.

I seem to be on a buying tear so far in 2024.
(Don't tell my wife!)
Pour Un Homme de Caron has been on my radar for sampling, and for just a few dollars more I was able to purchase this three pack and get to test drive Le Matin and Le Soir as well. 🤞🤞🤞

Pour un Homme de Caron is quite beautiful IMO, with excellent performance. I have the vintage and current, and the only difference I find is the current is a bit crisper or brighter. Love both.
