Frederic Malle has curated a new collection of Estée Lauder classic fragrances: Private Collection, Azurée, Estée, Knowing, and White Linen – working with IFF perfumers, Carlos Benaïm , Anne Flipo, and Bruno Jovanovic. All of whom have previously worked with Malle on his Edition de Parfums line, which was acquired by Lauder in 2014.
The fragrances do not appear to be replacing the originals, just living alongside them.
According to the NYT, “[Malle] retooled the scents using more modern fragrance-making techniques. He noted that, in Lauder’s day, perfumers combined base scents that were “like premixed mini-perfumes” to create a final fragrance. “They contained things that weren’t necessary and created background noise,”
Private Collection Legacy
