Today sees the launch of the first fragrance by Alexander McQueen since the flanker, My Queen Light Mist in 2007. The new fragrance, named simply McQueen Parfum has been created in collaboration with Alexander McQueen’s designer, Sarah Burton, and is currently exclusively available at Harrods.
The fragrance features top notes of black pepper, clove and pink pepper; jasmine, tuberose and ylang-ylang make up the heart of the fragrance; and the dry down features pink pepper and vetiver.
McQueen Parfum is inspired by classic perfumes with strong floral signatures, and “takes a rich, vintage spirit and gives it a stunningly modern architecture.”
Alexander McQueen’s first foray in fragrance was back in 2003, with the launch of Kingdom, which was launched in partnership with YSL Beauté. Although the fragrance was acclaimed by perfume fans, the fragrance didn’t do well commercially. A follow up, My Queen was launched in 2005, but the licensed wasn’t renewed when YSL Beauté was acquired by L’Oreal in 2008.
Alexander McQueen died in February 2010. Sarah Burton took over as creative director later that year. Procter & Gamble picked up a new license to create Alexander McQueen fragrances in 2013. Since then, Coty have acquired most of P&G’s fragrance licenses.
McQueen is available exclusively at Harrods from today, as well as Alexander McQueen boutiques.
