Although we’re just over two months into 2013, already we have seen a fair few oud fragrances so far with fragrances being launched from Françis Kurkdjian, Versace, Lancôme, Roberto Cavalli and Demeter.Kurkdjian has announced three new versions of his Oud fragrance from last year. They will be available as 70ml Extrait de Parfum from March, and are as follows: Oud Cashmere Mood (labdanum, benzoin from Laos, vanilla), Oud Silk Mood (Bulgarian rose, chamomile and papyrus) and Oud Velvet Mood (cinnamon, saffron and copaiba balsam)Versace have launched Versace pour homme Oud Noir, which is available as 100ml Eau de Toilette. The fragrance, unsurprisingly, has been developed for the Middle East market and is described as “An intense and regal composition; spicy and with a deep scent of leather.”
Lancôme have launched L’Autre Ôud (The other Oud). The bottle is designed to look like the front of the brands store in Paris (at 29 rue du Faubourg St Honoré). As well as oud, the fragrance includes Cypriol,Guaiac wood, clary sage, patchouli, vetiver, myrrh, rose and saffron.Louise Turner had created Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition, which contains notes of leather, vanilla and incense alongside the oud. The fragrance is available as 50ml and 75ml Eau de Parfum. Finally, Demeter have launched an Oud fragrance, which they bill in their e-mail newsletter as “Funny name. Fabulous scent. Highly valued by perfumers worldwide”. Quite. Demeter’s Oud starts from $6 for a 15ml Cologne Splash, which may suggest how much oud is actually in it.
