One nice feature with the new SOTD functionality is that you can see a list of the most worn fragrances. Not sure if this existed before, but I think it's being used a bit more, and it's been fun seeing the list of most common men's fragrances take shape.

I believe this data only goes back a few months, and it has been summer here in the Northern Hemisphere, so I expect the list will change a bit with time. Still, it is interesting to see this list of what basenoters actually wear.

If we make a list of the men's/unisex lists combined:
  1. Guerlain Vetiver
  2. Dior Eau Sauvage
  3. Terre d'Hermes
  4. Aventus
  5. Kouros
  6. Azzaro pour Homme
  7. Green Irish Tweed
  8. Acqua di Parma Colonia
  9. Antaeus
  10. Platinum Egoiste
  11. Gray Vetiver
All classics, with the exception of TdH, which is a modern classic in my opinion - in fact, the only Hermes on either list. Guerlain, AdP, Dior, YSL, Azzaro and Tom Ford have one fragrance each. Creed and Chanel have two each.

What fragrances will creep into this list as more data is collected, and colder weather comes to the USA and Northern Europe? Vetiver may still reign supreme as a generalist, but could it be toppled?

@Grant can we see seasonal data when it is collected?

I think Brut is holding steady at No. 12. Just splashed some on to ensure this! 😎

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more freshies or blue scents appear—from the AdG line or Bleu de Chanel. And Dior Homme Intense always a strong contender.

And Sauvage (despite the grumblings) perhaps a perennial guilty pleasure… ✅

Thanks for sharing and very interesting stats! 🙂

Thank you so much for posting, very interested to read this.

While also glad to see to which extent the most worn favorites overlap quite a bit not just with certain personal fragrance tastes, but also with a significant portions of timeless classics (both more vintage and more modern) worth including into nearly any well assorted masculine and/or unisex scent wardrobe.

More so, apart from Kouros- and yet not radically opposing even this one, just admitting to possibly need "warming up" to this after multiple (re) testings- considering everything else mentioned among the best options to start both a beginner's as much as a more advance style/taste lineup with.

Yes, Ken, that was my feeling as well. These fragrances are an excellent 'top 10' of great men's fragrances, with some fresh, some rich, some modern, some old fashioned. Most scents are also very good value, with the exception perhaps of the Creed offerings.

It will be interesting to see if Kouros maintains its position. I've yet to try it, but it is often described as challenging, but there are many who love it. I would say that if you don't love something after wearing it three times it's almost certainly not meant to be.

A lot of classics indeed. The only kind of surprise to me is Platinum Egoiste. I like it, but a bit amused it made this list.

In the last two years, Antaeus has become a big hit with me, but I wouldn't have thought this would be hanging in that well.
