Interesting. I think those are maltol crystals. This is more of a workable paste than balsam fir absolute, which is very sticky. This is semi solid, but not really sticky.

It’s sweet and fruity and balsamic. It’s sort of like the dry down of balsam fir absolute if that makes sense—after the resinous coniferous bits fade.

Testing on skin now. This could be very useful!

This is a material I absolutely love. It is vital for recreating Patou Pour Homme (0.5% pure).

This isn’t exactly quiet, but I can’t imagine 0.5% having much impact at all. Interesting.

It looks a lot like the concrete phase of an absolute. I have some leftover waxes from the absolute I made this spring and it has those little flaky crystals all over. As soon as I knead it, they disapear. Left undisturbed for a few days and it's covered again with that crystal matrix.
I've always been curious as to what that is.
I sometimes use this leftover wax in some blends when I want the green aspect of balsam fir. It's very tenacious and it blends well with other conifers.
Of course the perfume has to be filtered before bottling.

Interesting. How does the resinoid usually smell in comparison to the needle absolute. Overall this does smell quite similar to the absolute

My own needle absolute is a lot more sweet and jammy. But compared to the Biolandes absolute from PSH, it's similar.

I went to get my leftover solids to take a quick picture. As soon as I took it out from the cool storage into the hot humid air, the tiny crystals melted away before my eyes. This is like a dense putty and it leaves a sticky resin on your fingers.
Your product from Biolandes looks like it's a little more creamy, just like the concrete I had before I washed it.
