Hi All,
Is there someplace where I can easily find out whether a perfumery material exists in nature? For example, iso e super and damascone delta, as I understand, do not exist in nature. What else is there that was created in a laboratory for perfumery?
Is there a good book that explores...
I am looking to create a deep, dry woodsy base for a fragrance. I am having trouble finding a combination of a fixative and a wood that doesn't end up just a bit too sweet.
I have the following ingredients:
Acetal (Natural)
Acetophenone (Phenyl methyl ketone)
Adoxal (Givaudan)
Aldehyde C-10...
Hey all, a few weeks back I made a free demo formula for the unisex Or Du Serail (2014) by Bertrand Duchaufour for Naomi Goodsir. I thought I'd share it here. I strongly recommend you make this even though it is quite complex. It is ENORMOUSLY popular with everyone at Fraterworks and when we've...
I noticed in my wardrobe menu there’s a “swap list” option. It doesn’t work, but is it something that will eventually?
I sure would like to get back to swapping fragrances with my fellow basenotes members 😊
Attached are 2 comprehensive list of materials sourced from the Perfumers World website.
one list organized according to material lifetime.
one list organized by alphabetical order.
I have identified some inaccuracies in the data,
and encourage you to verify the lifetime and impact values...
Hi everyone,
I have been asked by a friend who isn't currently a member to help him out with this one.
Does anyone know if such a list exists? Most obliged for any help.
I'll add that I chose to put this thread here because not all discontinued fragrances might be considered vintage.
I've compiled a list of 75ish ingredients I want to start with. I am looking to focus more on more woody and spicy scents, but will mix in the occasional floral, citrus, or aquatic notes (i.e. Sauvage, etc.). Are there any essential notes I'm missing? Any really amazing notes? Here's the list...
I'm starting out in perfumery, but am willing to put a lot of time and effort into understanding and getting better at it quickly. I wanted to put together a list of beginner - intermediate materials, and am going to cap the list at 75 materials. Can I get some help perfecting the list? Which...
The price of fragrances is going up. Yet demand for and sales of expensive, high end, niche, boutique, and artisanal fragrances were still sky high last time I checked. On basenotes, most discussion seems to veer towards these newer, more expensive, more desirable, and more scarce fragrances on...
I'm planning on buying one of these fragrances sometime before Christmas:

I saw an Azzaro Chrome gift set at CVS today. No big deal to see it at drugstores here, as Chrome is a best-seller locally and throughout the US. And normally, it's produced in France and distributed in the US by Clarins Fragrance Group
Hence, I was very surprised to see on the back of the...

Thanks to a top notch basenoter :dankk2:who had a sample collection he was selling and I was blessed to have been able to acquire it reasonably. I now have a huge collection of things I don't even really know where to begin sampling.
Well, I have a few in mind I was really interested in...
I thought this would be a good sharing thread for those who depend almost solely on eBay & other online sites for their perfume supplies.
The ones I have found out(which most former fans agree on) in the last 2 months are :
Mitsouko, Opium, Cabochard, Secret de Venus, Chanel No. 19, Miss Dior...
oh wow...creed's new spice and wood is stunning! Im sooo glad i preordered two of them!It is in the same league as WINDSOR, and im glad that i put my name on the list early enough for two flacons of windsor also.Im am going to have them both signed by mr ERWIN CREED himself on nov. 3 in the...
There will almost certainly never be a reality TV show that features perfumers competing for fame and fortune. Perfumery is neither a performing art nor an athletic endeavor. Fragrances can't really be appreciated visually, like fashion design or fine art. And unlike the culinary arts, the...

We have 4 groups. Each member will have the chance to test 15 fragrances and will then mail the package to the next recipient on the list.
All the groups are now...
