Like all the Caldey perfumes, I have found Island Fern has taken numerous wearings to get used to. Straight out of the bottle, it smells like a greener version of 4711; the citrus notes fade very quickly, and are replaced by a very refreshing blend of soapy green notes on a slightly musty balsamic base. I have only tried the pure perfume, and find it is perfect for summer, though not too light for cooler weather too. The way Island Fern develops on my skin, the best description I can give it is that it is like a more natural and herbal version of Mugler's Cologne.

Island Fern is available in pure perfume, eau de cologne and eau de toilette (for some reason the eau de toilette is called "Skin Perfume" and is only available in a 5ml bottle). There is also bath essence and hand cream; the hand cream is beautiful quality, though it smells of lavender, rather than fern.
