I have found Island Madrigal the most difficult of the Caldey perfumes to get used to. As I have said in my reviews of some of the other Caldeys, in comparison to today's overly sweet vanilla-gourmand scents, it is subtle, and takes several wearings to be fully appreciated.

The floral top notes of Madrigal remind me very much of those in Island Bouquet, but these do not last very long on my skin, and the musky-amber-chypre base dominates.

The best way I can describe Madrigal (on my skin, at least) is more subtle, herbal version of Mitsouko, with a slight touch of Obsession. Though it is not my favourite of the Caldey perfumes, it is has grown on my tremendously in the few weeks I have had it. Unfortunately the bath essence and hand lotion have yet to be added to the Madrigal range, which is currently Pure Perfume, Eau de Cologne and Eau de Toilette (which is called "Skin Perfume" and only available in a 5ml bottle).
