Vague oud. A pitch towards a lighter fruity-floral combined with oud, this perfume fails to deliver on a few counts. The bouquet is abstract bordering on plastic, with only a stab of citrus delivering anything close to the natural world. The rest of the materials smell as if they have emerged through layers of shrinkwrap, bought at some clearance sale. The oud has an almost almond-like bitterness, but it suffers from a piercing aromachemical quality. Majestic in Poundland maybe – for me it's a bottled headache.

Another oud-rose blend. Indeed; yet it is the oud that is truly the most important component of this creation. And this oud is well made: quite intensive, an oud of the smother veriety with minimal harshness with no pungent or faelcaloid characteristics. And it is not too intrusively synthetic, like most of the products of this current oud flood in the fragrance shelves of the department stores.

The rose is quite soft, not too dark and more on the elegant side; it is not very sweet on me.

Otherwise, the drydown adds woodsy and lighter incense notes, but this is never a heavy or thick composition.

I get moderate sillage, excellent projection and eight hours of longevity on my skin.

A scent for warmer autumn days. 3.25/5.

Review for Majestic Special Oud.

This is one of the best oud fragrances in my opinion. I tested many ouds while in the Middle East recently and purchased a bottle of this. It smells smooth and sophisticated with the emphasis on oud while there are hints of rose and amber and possibly other notes as well.

The oud is very smooth and has nothing of the cow dung or blue cheese smell that you can find in some ouds, thus this is my kind of oud.

It is long lasting, and you can smell a bit of various notes during the development, though oud is always at the centre. Unisex I suppose, as most ouds are.

I like oud, but am not an oud fan who collects oud oils. so I will stick with this - my perfect oud.
