Molecule 01 + Patchouli

Finally some cool, dry weather to break out Molecule 01 + Patchouli. Although this could easily be worn year round, it just seems more appropriate for a sunny cooler day. This is pretty much what one would expect Iso E Super and patchouli to smell like. For me, this is a dry, airy patch that's been cleaned of all the more earthy, chocolate like elements so it pairs well with the musky-woody nature of IES. To my nose there's a touch of anise or licorice quality, especially in the opening, that provides some slight depth but for the most part it's a fairly light, if not transparent scent. I like it, as I do all the offerings from this minimalist house.

TLDR: Good (3.25/5). Straightforward, minimalist blend of Iso-E Super warm woods and strong, cleaned-up patchouli notes. the blend works great.

I agree with Buzzlepuff, below. This is the best of the Molecule 01+ series.

The blend of synthetic and powerful Indonesian patchouli is a great addition to the Iso-E Super. The result is an almost minty, medicinal herbal pop of the "best parts of patchouli" anchored by the woody aromachemical. Even if you are anosmic to Molecule 01, as many folks are, you will smell this fragrance. This fact is a benefit, because it makes gauging the correct number of sprays easy. You do not want to overspray this fragrance because even though you may not perceive it, the sillage from This fragrance can be very heavy.

like many synthetic fragrances, this scent has a way of reappearing for the wearer each time s/he moves around. The scent is unisex, projects moderately but persistently, and is very spare. The simplicity here is elegant. I'd rate it safe for the office if not over applied.
This is really nice stuff. It is definitely worth checking out if you like patchouli. Thumbs up.

Of the three Molecule 01+ scents this one - Patchouli, is my favorite. Like all of Escentric Molecule fragrances this is a spare, transparent and minimal fragrance. It is a blend of iso e Super + Indonesian patchouli + Patchouli Coeur. Patchouli Coeur is a Firmenich refinement of patchouli that removes some of the natural opening aspects and results in a patchouli note that is minimal, clear, clean and cuts through air in perfect harmony with iso e Super which also has a clean but quite expansive cedar base tone. Added to these super clean ingredients is Indonesian Patchouli which makes no mistake to inform us that this is patchouli++. The heaviness is completely gone. Patchouli expanded and diffused into a cloud surrounding you with clean sharp medicinal patchouli scent. The persistence and concentrative qualities of natural patchouli is thankfully replaced by an expansive but insightful blend of the best of patchouli and the cedar of iso e super. I like the results. A couple sprays works well and resolves into a skin scent after a few hours, but with a bit of movement it reactivates and refreshes itself. Cool.
