Opens with a screechy hight pitched sweetness...general ambiance/vibe/feel I get is of flowery perfumes from the 50's and 60's...this , to me, leans more toward the yin/feminine side...can tell that this is supposed to be an amber fragance even though the amber isn't really front and center...it's there, but there is a lot of spicy rose going on....to put it simply - a spicy rose/ amber fragrance...just a hint of oud/wood...and yes, projection and longevity are out of this world...

Loud.
Crispy.
Crunchy.
Crackly.
Sharp.
Prickly.
Smoldering.

Musk, osmanthus, sandalwood, amber, saffron, nutmeg, benzoin, myrrh, agarwood, and pepper create sparks of spice; almost heat, to my nose. Clears my head like a medicinal nose-spray. I love this one. If it lasted longer than 3 or 4 hours on my skin, I'd have considered it full-bottle worthy.

Bond No. 9 New York Amber is the second entry of the "New York" series and while not quite as disappointing as New York Oud, is nonetheless still uninteresting.

It's not so much an amber-intensive fragrance as it is a fresh spicy mix with amber as a small part of it, with saffron, nutmeg, rose, and sandalwood.

Despite the warm reviews on performance, I don't get much out of it as far as projection or longevity, frankly, but of course that's an issue primarily of personal chemistry, and in this case I'm all the happier for it.

Mediocre and uninspired but not unpleasant.

I'm somewhat neutral on this, but I'm giving it a thumbs up to be fair: because I'm new to amber, and I don't really have a reference point in evaluating it.

Additionally, at the moment, I'm really not exactly sure how I feel about it: but, I do think I'm sort of digging it.

And, my feeling is that this will grow on me.

I'll say this: it's strong! A little goes a long, long way!

I must try other ambers to expand my knowledge.

I may come back and update this at a later date.

Update: 8/2019 --> A spicy saffron rose with a subdued amber element it seems to me. Very enjoyable! And, damn strong nuclear stuff...

When you wear a Bond9 fragrance you certainly don't get cheated on silage and longevity. NY Amber is the third of the NY series I have tried and all have a super amplified performance on my skin.

NY Amber opens with a scent very reminiscent of orange blossom honey. That's not to say it has any citrus, only the sweetness of honey made by citrus grove bee hives. This type honey has a certain white floral sweetness to it and is slightly different than honey made from other pollen. There's a distinctive rose note as well and touches of saffron lingering in the honey. It's more floral than amber and nothing I would describe as gourmand. Definitely a unisex scent that could be worn comfortably by a man or woman year round.

IMO, it's slightly reminiscent of Aramis' Calligraphy Rose, but a sweeter version. I like it, but probably not a bottle worthy purchase at Bond prices. Rose and amber fans should like this one. Thumbs up.
