Brooksfield (1996)

Defining this disappeared italian fragrance as a great perfume does not make it enough justice. It is a real little gem indeed. Nuance by Brooksfield, launched in 1996, is a little disappeared plummy-figgy floral musky (and a tad benzoinic) chypré. Dreamy, slightly resinous, musky and romantic a la Cerchi Nell' Acqua Usmar Venezia (which is really close in vibe to this disappeared Brooksfield's pearl). This fragrance is a sort of Mauboussin By Mauboussin's twin (but also notorious creations a la CK Obsession and Givenchy Organza jump more than vaguely on mind), being Nuance just slightly more talky aromatic, drier and properly figgy especially in its first stage of development and finally more properly mossy while Mauboussin smelling finally more ambery/benzoinic and warm (the two compositions actually share lot of notes as plum, orange, mandarin, ylang-ylang, musk, sandalwood, patchouli etc). Nuance is really powdery, figgy and musky throughout along the way. It features the notes of fig, plum, mandarin, mimosa, jasmine, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, artemisia, galbanum, mint, patchouli, sandalwood, cedar and musk. The note of fig provides initial earthy tones and finally figgy talkiness (as joined to musk and woods). Artemisia and mint enhance the general aromatic vibe while mimosa and ylang-ylang exude a languid exotic twist which is enveloped in to a musky-galbanum-centered kind of apothecarian figgy tone. Since the beginning you can perceive a sort of musky-talky and aromatic fruity smell of fig, citrus and plum. The latter (before receding in to something drier) enhance a really jammy initial fruity creaminess. This stage is indolic and luxurious. Gradually the aroma becomes drier, muskier and more talky-figgy. On this stage it unfolds all its romantic and poetic delicacy and you can be enveloped by one of the most romantic musky embraces in perfumery. Finally the scent is close to skin, sensul, warmly organic and super musky. This final stage is incredibly sensual end erotic without stopping to unfold class. Unfortunately you hardly will be able to retrieve such a pearl. I've recently purchased a little bottle just in order to drug up my doomed devilish nostalgia.
