The company says:

The idea of an Oud with Musk has been around for some time but has never been interpreted in a totally natural way. At the core of Oud Beyond there is a very elegant, rich, and woody Oud from Thailand with a dash of a more animalic Oud Laos essence. Hibiscus seeds known as Musk Ambrette bring a Musk note as well as true Civet musk from ethical farming.

I bought a sample of Abdes Salaam Attar / La Vie Del Profumo's 2023 release called "Oud Beyond" from Luckysent. A 15.5ml bottle retails for $240 and a 50ml bottle for $720. I needed to see what something thus priced was all about. Something I think even the most experienced oud fanatics would call a "real oud."
Per the house this is a combination of a "rich and woody" Thai oud and a "more animalic" Laotian oud. Added to these two rare notes is musk ambrette and an "ethically farmed" Civet. I do very much appreciate La Vie Del Profuno for their use of natural ingredients and their overall philosophy. But quality costs and the products this company creates are not inexpensive.
So Oud Beyond opens with...oud! It's rich and dark and initially to me rather leathery. The leather then segues into a Band-Aid aroma which I kinda love. The all out warm blitz of the initial application does fade after a quarter of an hour but the "oudiness" remains, just not quite as full and rich as the first moments. Occasionally brief little blasts of a barnyard-like oud peeks through. Nothing overwhelming, just letting you know it is indeed there. To me the overall vibe these ouds produce again lapses back to that leathery aroma I initially noted. Maybe I'm just predisposed to leather but it's definitely there. A fine leather approximation at that while still quite obviously oud.
The musk ambrette note never fails to impress with such an animalic musk being produced by a seed. Here it's a overriding sort of light blanket that covers the whole creation but doesn't really stand out. It's an accent note. The civet must be blended within this musk because I don't recognize civet as such whatsoever in this perfume.
Longevity is excellent though most of it is as close in scent. The initial sillage is at least arms length but within an hour or two it closes in rather tight. Eventually all that remains is the musk. Still blows my mind that the oil from the seed of abelmoschus moschatus can contain such a perfect musk aroma. But it does and does so here til we fade to black...
