Acqua di Parma (2021)

The opening is woody and spicy. Reminds me of a smokehouse barn where they smoke meats. Not something I would hope to smell like. It becomes more wearable in the drydown, more refined, and more of just a pleasant, leathery, smoke scent.

It's unique for sure but not something I enjoy wearing. But that uniqueness could be exactly what someone else is looking for if they enjoy a smokey, spicey leather. Sample first.

The projection is average, not a room filler for me. It does last over 8 hours though.

I’m most surprised by the varying results I get with this fragrance. The opening is very medicinal to my nose and the rose and raspberry shine through brightly, but are a bit of a synthetic scent and can be cloying indoors. The fragrance becomes much more palatable after the first 20-30 minutes where hints of oud are noticeable. I don’t sense the complexity that I might hope for, but what I like is its uniqueness. To others, I hear that it smells like incense and ash on my skin.

Performance seems on par with many other AdP fragrances, but I’m a little perplexed at how sometimes I really enjoy the fragrance, finding it elegant and sophisticated, and other times find it a bit annoying.
