My full bottle arrived from John Lewis on Thursday, I got 15% off, so just jumped at it.

About the embossed box, I never notice it when in at the counter in House of Fraser and my bottle came in the normal white box 75 mls.

I asked about that because my 75 ml also has a plain box and they said the embossed box is only for the 200 ml.

What I saw in store was indeed the 200 ml box. It may just have been for display purposes but I wanted to nick it it was that pretty...

I made it into the Chanel boutique today and was delighted to smell Comete. I loved that it was slightly green with a bit of bite. I like the cherry blossom very much. I think that's the note making it a bit green. Chris really liked the floral aspects.

It's a beautiful scent. My first impression is that it is the exquisitely blended as all Les Exclusifs are.

The associate gave us each a sample. I'm going to give it a full wear soon. I'm not sure this is a must-have. I have many Les Exclusifs. I've bought most from people selling bottles that are mostly full at great discounts.

I sampled Comete in Shinjuku Isetan today. One sniff and I was thinking I know exactly what this is...

While the inspiration may have been a stardust trail, the top notes are identical to sakura mochi @kosui no kaori Top notes are sakura blossoms and salted sakura leaves, followed by Chanel's wizardry of iris, heliotrope and white musks. Simply beautiful.

This description really makes me want to try it now. I was quite worried about the sakura to be honest (ie who really does it well and what really is that in perfumery?) and iris isn't really my thing, but sakura mochi....now that sounds lovely as I can relate to that olfactory memory.

Smelt the Comete a couple of weeks ago. It was highly likely what I'd enjoy the scent - iris and heliotrope in one fragrance, say no more. The overall Chanel "base scent" impression is very well executed. I really enjoyed what I smelt, but was oversprayed by then by another 4 or 5 fragrances I tried earlier that day. Will do another "clean" test and then decide.

I can’t wait to try this one. On paper this definitely sounds like something I will like.

Tried this the other day and it fell short for me. The SA kept saying you need to keep this on your skin for a long time to truly appreciate it. It was very faint on me the whole time. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted to like it more.

Sorry it didn’t work for you, @purplelilac. It’s very surprising to me that Comète was faint. On me it’s one of the strongest Exclusifs, still evident the next day, with a smaller dose than other perfumes. Maybe something in it can lead to anosmia for some.

@FiveoaksBouquet I think I will revisit this one. I wish they had had a sample I could take home and spend more time with, but they didn't. Everyone here seems to enjoy it so, I think it deserves a second chance!

@purplelilac If you're shopping at the Chanel boutique, I think you can ask them to make a sample. The one I go to has small bottles with a screw top they fill from the tester. I had to ask for it for some perfumes I wanted to test longer, but they know me so well they made me a sample of Comete without asking.

I gave the sample a full wear, and I must say I love the dry down. It is luxurious musk.

@Hawaii Jake thank you for that tip; it's a good idea! I will give it a try. The Chanel counter I went to was a smaller one but if I go to the boutique I might have better luck.

Tried it. Worth having. Just remember - it is a beautiful copy of L'Heure Bleue

Them is fighting’ words. 😂

Only kidding, glad you like it and now I’m really intrigued to do a side by side.

There is something a bit Guerlainesque about that fluffy almond accord in Comete. But to me the musky dry down is pure Polge for Chanel.

Definitely worth having. I get the L’Heure Bleue connection and there is a certain timelessness to both of them but I find Comète less sweet and cloying, a perception that turns me off LHB. Maybe Comète is like L’Heure Bleue Extra Dry! 😊

Thanks @epapsiou for the reminder about Comète. I bought the small bottle and have been “saving” it so as not to use it up too fast but your post has encouraged me to wear it more.

Oh—I would just like to add that I feel Comète brushes very lightly with a gourmand touch, with its cherry-oriented note.
