I don't get ANYTHING manly out of this fragrance. It smells like a super-rich old-lady who wears furs 24/7 and doesn't have your best interest at heart -- yes, Cruella de Vil. I'll give it another try, though. Update: 2018-08-19 -- After wearing Musc Ravageur (MR) by Frederic Malle for one full day, I realize the fragrances are extremely similar. I detect Iris in the Bond (not listed), but not in the MR. The BOND seems to have somewhat of a rougher edge, but is very long-lasting and strong to the finish.
I've been reviewing mostly niche fragrances recently because most of them are high quality and well balanced juices even if they don't smell unique and very different. but when I tested this ..... OMG!
It was like you're driving luxury super sport cars like Ferrari or Lamborghini for a couple of months and then suddenly you open your eyes and see you're driving a terrible 1300cc car made back in 60's that it should be in junk yards, not on the streets!
What a terrible experience!
The opening is just nightmare. what on earth is this?!
I've tested many daring and complex fragrances but this one is just a terrible synthetic meshing of notes!
There is a huge blast a synthetic and cloying vanilla with some fresh citrusy notes, lots of floral notes and some spices at the opening.
It's just a messy and unbalanced mesh of notes in a very bad way.
As time goes by, things got better but still it's not well done.
In the mid I can smell a sweet vanilla ice cream like smell with lots of synthetic floral notes mixing with it and some spices in the background.
It's not terrible but it's very harsh and potent.
I'm testing this fragrance via my sample in winter and there is snow on the ground, but this fragrance still is impossible to deal with.
Both projection and longevity is awesome.

A powdery gourmand. I get tons of vanilla, cardamom, and a bit of pimento. It is a bit too much sweetness for a man, For chocolate and pimento I recommend L'Artisan Piment Brulant. On second try, it has a stale beer undertone that I don't like. Changing to neutral.
It's a beautiful blend. Extremely sweet, warm and impressive. very suitable for the winter.
My rating:
Longevity: 10/10
Projection: 9/10
Scent: 9/10

Thumbs up as a men's fragrance. I don't know how it could be called unisex though. I tired wearing it and I felt like there was a man following me around. A very nice smelling man, but still it was inappropriate and creepy.
I agree with the description that this is an "old school" fragrance. I imagine that it's something my very dapper grandfather would have worn when he was in his prime, and I mean that in a good way.

This is an interesting one. It's an old-school-smelling powdery floral aldehydic chypre, but it's also a classic-smelling amber "oriental", and simultaneously a very modern sweet candy gourmand.
It's got sparkly aldehydes on top and sort of smells like creme soda for a little while in the beginning. It's also got a traditional white flowers accord and an old school amber smell that's almost like those butterscotch hard candies. There's a sweet cherry Kool Aid smell up top as well (which actually doesn't smell trashy despite my description), and the whole thing is surrounded by a thick haze of dusting powder.
It's candy sweet, which smells modern, but the powder and the aldehydes make it so "perfumey" (in the classic sense) that it's never a gourmand and always sort of smells like it could have come out decades ago, like an extremely sweet powdery cousin to Coromandel.
I've worn this a few times now and sort of enjoyed it and sort of hated it. Finally, after wearing it to bed, I finally fell in love after smelling the delicious butterscotch/amber/patchouli basenotes on my sheets for a couple of days. I still don't think I could ever wear this to work - the loud sweet powder would just be too much - but I think it's well done and works wonders as a sleeping scent.
