Sunset Riot

A softer version of Baccarat Rouge 540. Where Instant Crush and Kalan are variations of the MFK scent and evolve over time, this and Ariana Grande Cloud nail the budget variation in that they smell very similar to the original but remain linear.

Interesting to note that (to me) this smells so much better on skin than a tester strip or paper, so be sure to fully wear it. Even on clothes it's much better.

This lasts most of the day, probably in the 7-8 hour range. Projection is quite good but more controlled than the higher-priced versions of this scent. Think of it as a work-safe option.

A bit woody, quite a bit mineralic, a little bit sweet (it's definitely the maltol as I'm quite familiar with its smell - I have some products scented with just it). It's nice. There is similar mineralic-woody sweetness in Ariana Grande's Cloud (Cloud is sweeter, louder, thicker, has more gourmandy, coconutty facets and there is more going on in it, Sunset Riot is less feminine, more truly unisex, but they dry down very similarly) and in Molinard's Cher Wood (Cher Wood is much woodier, less sweet, less mineralic, also there's much more going on, it's much more interesting, smoother and overall a great scent - they're not really too similar, it's just the woody mineralic feel reminds me of it).

Sunset Riot is a rather linear, pleasant and long lasting unisex scent. It's sweet-ish, but sweetness is tamed with the mineralic and woody aspects so you kind of don't think of it as a sweet scent unless you focus on it. It's quite mineralic, but the sweetness balances it out nicely. I'm not getting neither pepper nor orange flower listed in the notes, but maybe I just don't know where to look.

It's nice and minimalistic, and the name is beautiful, but it just doesn't win me over. I would choose many other similar woody-mineralic-sweetish-synthetically-pleasant scents over it and I really should knock some stars off for it not being original and not being distinctive, but it's hard to give it less than a thumbs up because it does smell nice to me after all.
