VOODOO LOVE (Bourbon French)

This is a most intriguing and attractive scent, beguiling in its complexity and balance. There is a big powdery rose at the center. Around this float notes of vanilla and cinnamon, which balance the spicy carnation. It is given a fragrant dryness by its iris note and the whole rests on a solid base of amber, oakmoss, sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver. Do I also detect a bit of cedar In the base?

Powdery, yes. Confectionery, yes. It is most reminiscent of a cross between Guerlain's Apres L'Ondee and L'Heure Bleue.

One gets the impression of entering a top of the line French patisserie with cookies, cakes and bars warm from the oven scenting the air. Yet, it does not at all seem gourmand by today's perfume standards. It is the cinnamon, vanilla and rose that stand out.

A lovely and distinctive perfume that cannot help but please the most discerning of noses. Unisex by my standards.

Amber and cinnamon are prevalent. I smell patchouli, too. There is an earthiness underneath like dark soil and moss. Rising above all these notes, a haze of an almond-y heliotrope exists.

Voodoo Love is old-fashioned in its simplicity. The note layers do seem to rise and fall; do switchbacks. It is at once a powdery and femme fragrance, then, sweet boozy amber. It all deepens as it wears.

If you enjoy a cinnamon note in your perfumes you'll want to try this one. It also has great longevity. A value too, for you cash.

Soft, powdery and somewhat "cool". I smell heliotrope, iris, carnation, sandalwood, moss, vetiver. Not my style, but very well done! Very baby-like.
